Kelsey M. Richards
I am the Branch Manager of the Thayne Branch Library in Lincoln County, Wyoming. I am dedicated to strengthening library services, expanding community engagement, and fostering a welcoming environment for all patrons. In this role, I aim to continue developing my leadership skills, deepen my understanding of public library operations, and refine my ability to manage staff and resources effectively.
In August 2025, I will graduate with my Master’s in Library and Information Science from the University of Southern Mississippi. This degree has further enhanced my library administration, collection development, program planning, and community outreach expertise. By that time, I expect to be a confident and skilled library manager, capable of leading my branch in innovative ways to meet the evolving needs of our community. My long-term goal is to continue growing within the field, contributing to advancing public libraries as essential community hubs.
Professional Philosophy
As a public librarian, I seek to make a meaningful impact on my community by providing access to resources, technology, and spaces that support lifelong learning, personal growth, and intellectual curiosity. Libraries serve as vital community anchors, and my role is to ensure that all individuals—regardless of background—feel empowered to explore their interests and informational needs in an inclusive, welcoming environment.
I am committed to upholding the core values of librarianship, including intellectual freedom, literacy, equitable access, diversity, and inclusion. Advocacy is a central part of my mission, ensuring that library services remain relevant, responsive, and accessible to all members of the community. By fostering a culture of learning, collaboration, and innovation, I strive to make the library not just a place of knowledge but a dynamic, transformative force within the community.
